Si Scott Studio Visit

Si Scott Visit
Si Scott came for a studio visit and showed his work to us,  His illustrations are universally know and he has worked world wide, i think he is very inspiring as a designer and from his talk i have learned that i shouldn't do work if i don't engage or morally back it up. As a designer he is very opinionated in what he likes within design and from this he work ha developed.

Berlin research

Here are some photos form when i visited Berlin, I was amazed by the city, and found it very culturally interesting and intriguing, the graffiti and street art as well s the general ethos of the place really made me want to see ore and explore the place. Little pieces of street art such as this one adds a sense of personality to the city. In the cute i would really like to work and live in berlin, as a graphic design or any kind of deigner i think a city like berlin would really help with creativity.

Another thing which i found fascinating was the Berlin wall, i thought the culture and the history behind this piece of art or graffiti was really interesting and shows another side the Berlin. Overall i think visiting berlin has really helped further my contextual knowledge of design and the design world around me.

502 Evaluation

End of module self-evaluation

What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
During this module i feel that i have learnt a lot about the industry od graphic design, we have learnt about the what setting up a studio would be like and difficult it would be, this has helped me relies that when i graduate i would like to work for a studio rather than just for myself, as there is so much to do when being self employed. Lifes a pitch has helped me to think about the kind of people i would like to work with and which area of graphic design i would like to go into, and as i result of this i think my skills have improved.

What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

I think from doing tasks and sessions with john I have released that there are so many different areas of graph design which I could go into, this has broadened my mind and helped me think about what I would ideally like to be doing in 5 years time. For example when I did my bringing I thought i would be easy, but it was probable the hardest project I have done yet, as I really wanted to communicated what I did within my own practice, but I also wanted to communicate what I liked too. I did really enjoy doing this brief but as john said to everyone I think I will have to redo my branding.
What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise these?
During this year i have become a lot more confident in my own skill, In first year i really stubbled when doing projects as I felt they were to quick and i couldn't find my own style, however his year through having more time and exploring more processes and ways of working i think i have become more individual in the way I produced design. I also think my presentation skills have greatly improved, even if they are still are not great I feel much more confident and relaxed when presenting tho the class.

What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?
Layout is a huge weakness for me, I find it really difficult to be successful at this, hopefully next year I can practice more and develop my skills. Another weakness which I always struggle with is COP, anything which is contextual I find hard, the lecture I always get fidgety in and can't concentrate, so this makes it very difficult when coming to write my essays, and tasks.

Numiko Talk

Numiko is a digital communications agency, who came in to visit our course group to bust some of the myths about web design and what they do. although i didn't really enjoy the Web design module I really enjoyed listening to their talk on Web, they told us about how you don't have to be able to code, which is something which I hated doing anyway but instead it was more important to be able to design a fully functioning navigable website which was easy to understand and easy to get around.

We solve digital problems for our clients through user research, design and technology across digital platforms. We like working with people who make a difference and we have the pleasure of working with some brilliant clients to help them engage their audiences, from BBC and Channel 4, to the National Lottery Good Causes, NESTA and the NSPCC.

Poster Brief

Below is the poster which i produced for the studio brief, the idea was to promote a gallery space, We didn't know what he gallery space was going to be for so we literally just had to promote the idea. It was a competition brief and the top 5 voted by the class won and would get to go on the walls were the space would eventually be.

Luckily the class voted me into the top 5 and so my work is now on the wall in the space leading up to the time when it is used for other things.

Branding layout

Here is the branding layout for my own branding, I wanted the design to be able to be applied across a range of products, below I have mocked up, envelopes, cd's, mugs and books. This is what my branding would look like all together. I have also included my Creative CV.

Creative CV

Here is my creative cv, I wanted it to look visually pleasing, and so I continued on with the same colour scheme and illustrative style which i used throughout the rest of my branding, I have used this bright yellow colour a lot more as i think it makes the layout look a lot more pleasing and exciting.
