What I look for in a studio
When looking for studios which I would like to contact there were a number of things which were important to me as a designer.
- To Beguin with when looking a studios to contact I wanted to make sure they were all in a location which appealed to me, wether that be in a city which i would like to live of in a city which would benefit me by being closer to home. If Approaching a studio closer to home means that I could live at home this would be beneficial as i cold save money to go abroad to work at a later date.
- The way the studio runs is also a big factor for me, most of the studios which i have looked at are mostly small studios with a close knit team of designers who work collaboratively together on a day to day basis.
- The type of work the studio produces. I think this is important to me as I work well when I know the final outcome is going to be something which I enjoy doing, or will enjoy showing people. I defiantly work better when the work is something which I find interesting. And he studios which i have contacted so far all work doing something which interests me.
- New ways of working, i will be contacting a few print studios i have really enjoyed doing print this year, I was involved in the leeds print festival and it really inspired me to do more print. Risograph and screen printing studios will be high on my list when sending of my promo packs as i would like to gain more skill and knowledge in this area of design.
